Rutgers VAX Corps
Rutgers VAX Corps is a group of individuals supporting COVID-19 vaccination efforts at Rutgers University. It is comprised of health professional students and faculty from Rutgers' Biomedical Health Sciences (RBHS) and other units across the University. Corps members play a key role in vaccination efforts, including administration of COVID-19 vaccines and other functions to support vaccine clinics.
To join VAX Corps, check the VAX Corps portal to determine your eligibility. If your name is not listed within the “Questionnaires” section, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your first name, last name, NetID, school, and grad year to be added to the participant database.
All information shared through the portal will be kept confidential to the extent required by applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations and university requirements. Eligible VAX Corps members will be contacted when opportunities are available.
Frequently Asked Questions
Current Rutgers students and eligible faculty are encouraged to participate. University employees must have supervisor approval to work. Faculty who are healthcare providers have the ability to assist in acting as preceptors for the students, which is needed at every scheduled clinic.
VAX Corps members may be asked to check in and greet guests, direct people traffic, perform administrative duties, and provide support in other ways such as precepting students. Eligible clinical VAX Corps members may be asked to administer and prepare vaccine; answer questions about the vaccine, allergies, and side effects; monitor patients; and perform other duties. VAX Corps members will complete a skills assessment and be provided with thorough training as appropriate.
Our community’s safety is our primary concern. Thus, VAX Corps requires consistent training for all participants. This training includes the completion of four (4) short Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Vaccine Modules and also the review of COVID-19 vaccine fact sheets (EUAs). Upon accessing the VAX Corps portal, members will be directed to the CDC modules and EUAs. An attestation of completion is required prior to registering for a clinic shift.
