Frequently Asked Questions

Who can help?

Current Rutgers students and eligible faculty are encouraged to participate. University employees must have supervisor approval to work. Faculty who are healthcare providers have the ability to assist in acting as preceptors for the students, which is needed at every scheduled clinic.

How can Corps members assist?

VAX Corps members may be asked to check in and greet guests, direct people traffic, perform administrative duties, and provide support in other ways such as precepting students. Eligible clinical VAX Corps members may be asked to administer and prepare vaccine; answer questions about the vaccine, allergies, and side effects; monitor patients; and perform other duties. VAX Corps members will complete a skills assessment and be provided with thorough training as appropriate.

What training is necessary to become eligible to participate?

Our community’s safety is our primary concern. Thus, VAX Corps requires consistent training for all participants. This training includes the completion of four (4) short Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Vaccine Modules and also the review of COVID-19 vaccine fact sheets (EUAs). Upon accessing the VAX Corps portal, members will be directed to the CDC modules and EUAs. An attestation of completion is required prior to registering for a clinic shift.
